A Trip to County Yu（蔚县）
It was a cloudy day when we were preparing to begin our trip. The sunlight has been diffracted to the whole sky. At 5:20, with the fresh air in the morning, the bus set off to County Yu in ZhangJiaKou. Every students was excited, wondering what to expect in the journey.
After 6 hours’ long drive, we finally arrived at YingHao International Hotel--one of the most well-known hotel there. Actually I think it’s not as comfortable as we’ve imagined. But the food there was quite good. There are all local foods which we could not have enjoyed in other places.
In the afternoon, we arrived at a local museum. This museum proclaimed that it’s the second biggest museum in China. Even we didn’t think so, we also learned a lot. There were many sediments rocks which showed the evidence of the existence and evolution of human beings in prehistoric period. What amazed us most is the ancient buildings like Buddha Temples in Neolithic Age. The exhibitions and displays are the epitomes of our great nation, which represented the construction of civilization and the cultural significance of the ancient China. We felt really proud that we are born in China, such a huge and magnificent country.
The next day,we began Donation Activities at the local school named GuoZhuangZi Primary School. We gave away a lot of books, pencils, pencil cases and sports equipment.
Then we were divided into 4 groups to give lessons--English, music, art and Olympic Games. We witnessed how these children studied at school in such a difficult situation. They have neither modern teaching equipment nor experienced teachers. And they have few kinds of food to choose from in the canteen. The total fee of three meals a day is less than eight yuan, 3 yuan of which is from government and 5 yuan from themselves. However, their thirst for knowledge from the eyes cannot be denied and impressed us a lot. I can’t help to reflect ourselves. Compared with them,we can enjoy the best educational services and the most comfortable learning environment. If we are put in the same situation, will we adapt and study well? I realized how lucky and happy we are, so we have no excuse not to treasure the opportunity and study harder.
Finally, we went back on Sunday afternoon, and got to campus at around 10:30 at midnight. Overall, it was a tiring but meaningful trip. After the experience, I have a clearer goal of my future--go to Ivy League. I have no reason to give up!
